Secretary • Montcalm County Quality Deer Cooperative
Hello, my name is Devin Antes. I am 25 years old and was born and raised here in Montcalm County. Deer hunting and deer management have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up with a dad who has always had a deep passion for both, I was fortunate to be introduced early on to the bigger picture of what responsible deer management really means. From taking days off school to sit in on hunting regulation meetings in Lansing, to attending panels hosted by property management specialists, to being involved early with the Bacon Creek Co-op—an effort my dad founded in 2015—these experiences shaped my understanding of how important community involvement is in managing our local deer herd. Since my late teens, my passion for being involved in deer management efforts here in Montcalm County has only continued to grow. I became involved with the Montcalm County Quality Deer Cooperative a couple of years ago and have since taken a direct role in helping build it into something meaningful for our community. Much of my work happens behind the scenes, where I focus on the technical side of our website and social media, along with supporting the planning and execution of MCQDC’s community efforts throughout the county. For me, being part of MCQDC is about more than just deer management. It’s about giving back to the county that raised me, supporting fellow hunters and landowners, and helping ensure that our whitetail population remains healthy and sustainable for future generations. That purpose is what makes this work so rewarding and continues to drive my commitment.
