About

Hello, my name is Jeffery Antes. I am 53 years old and have lived in Montcalm County since the age of three, when my parents moved here from the Fowler area. I have been involved in several outdoor and hunting groups in the area on and off for many years. In 2015, myself and several neighbors started the Bacon Creek Deer Management Group. While the Facebook group is not as active as it once was, the mentality of neighbors and friends working together for deer management still stands strong. I have spent a lifetime fascinated by the whitetail deer, always reading, watching, and listening whenever possible. Throughout my life, I have continuously sought opportunities to learn more about their behavior, biology, and management. Some accomplishments I am still very proud of include earning my Deer Stewardship certification through QDMA, as well as having the opportunity several years ago to visit Turtle Hunting Club, where I participated in a deer necropsy with Dr. James Kroll and Wayne Sitton. That experience provided an in-depth understanding of whitetail deer biology and behavior, and I remain very thankful for it. My main goals are to work with an organization that gives back to the community and to share the importance of the three H’s of deer management: Herd, Habitat, and Hunter. These are the three most important aspects of creating a flourishing and healthy deer population for everyone to enjoy today and for the hunters and wildlife managers of tomorrow.
